My name is not Ryan Incus, but for the sake of my privacy, I've decided to keep all personally-identifiable information off this blog, so that's the name I'll use. I'll be using false names for my friends and other people I meet and places I mention as well, but all my experiences and everything I tell you about myself will be true.
I'm a 26-year-old heterosexual white cisgendered male. I used to include "abled" in that list, but due to my Hyperacusis, which prevents me from working, socializing or even leaving my bedroom most days, I no longer consider myself abled.
I live in the northern United States and am lucky enough to be completely financially supported by my hard-working parents. I can't imagine how I'd fare if I'd developed Hyperacusis while living on my own, or worse, if I'd had a family of my own to support.
I'm also incredibly lucky in that I'm a writer, so there is some slim chance that I might become successfully published and be able to financially support myself someday, despite my condition. And I'm lucky enough to have access to a netbook which typically remains cool and quiet long enough for me to spend an hour or so writing, checking my email or blogging. Because you see, normal computers cause enough noise to hurt my ears, so I can't use them.
Though I'd only be able to write or blog for about an hour anyway, because unluckily, I also happen to have a currently-undiagnosed degenerative joint disease which particularly affects my writsts, fingers and knees. It's painful to do any manual task for very long (I only type a few sentences before taking a five-minute break) or to be on my feet for more than a few minutes. Such is life.
Besides writing and reading, which consumes most of my productive time, I conworld and conlang, I design tabletop RPGs and card games, I take care of two virtual pets at any given time and I love browsing through the ridiculous amount of amazing works of art by the insanely talented people who populate the Internet. Michelangelo, Leonardo -- any of the Masters would have marveled at us as a society of artists such as the world has never seen.
